Ngorongoro Crater Day Trip
A day trip to the Ngorongoro crater may well be one of the best day trips you can take! The Ngorongoro crater is about a three and a half hour drive from Arusha so we will be leaving for this “day” trip in the wee hours of the morning! But it is well worth the drive. Ngorongoro crater is quite simply the most spectacular tourist destination in Africa. It is referred to as the Garden of Eden and the crown jewel of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
There are approximately 30,000 animals residing in the crater. It is one of the best places in Tanzania to see the endangered black rhino and black maned lions. You can also spot many other animals such as zebras, warthogs, hyenas and many more. But don’t look for giraffes! The trees in the crater don’t grow tall enough to be a good food source for these long necked beauties.
A couple of fun facts about your day trip to Ngorongoro Crater; it was voted as one of the seven wonders in Africa and some scenes in the movie Out of Africa were filmed in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The crater is one of our favorite safari destinations because of the vast abundance of wildlife. So join us on this day trip of a lifetime!

Book itTarangire National Park
Tarangire National Park is located approximately two and a half hours from Arusha, making it a great affordable option for a day trip. You can look forward to seeing many things here in the Tarangire National Park. If you come in the dry season which is June through November you will see an influx of up to 250,000 animals! The Tarangire river is a good source of water for these animals, especially when other sources dry up with the drier weather. There are an abundance of carnivores including lions, leopards, cheetah and African Wild Dogs.
You can also find giraffes, zebras, wildebeest and Cape buffalo. Various primates also reside in the park among them olive baboons and vervet monkeys. But most impressive is the large population of elephants found in the park. Many herds of up to three hundred elephants per herd can be seen in Tarangire. Fun fact, the oldest elephant to give birth to twins lived in this park!
You can also see over five hundred and forty five species of birds here including Yellow Collared Lovebirds and Ashy Starlings and the Tawny Eagle. Tarangire is also home to two very special trees. The Baobab tree is one of the most enduring symbols of Africa, known as the tree of life. The Umbrella Thorn Acacia tree is the most photographed tree in the world.
We would love you to join us for this astounding day trip, you will never be able to say that you have never seen an elephant again!

Book itLake Manyara National Park
Lake Manyara is an easy three hour drive from Arusha making it a perfect day trip destination. The national park was initially formed to protect the massive herds of elephants who inhabit the area. This national park also is home to forty species of predatory birds and three hundred and ninety species of birds total.
If you are looking for a reason to visit Lake Manyara consider this, Ernest Hemingway described the park as “the loveliest I have seen in Africa”. We are excited to share this amazing national park with you! Fun fact, the early Tarzan movies were filmed here.

Book itDay trip to Hot Springs
If you’re in the mood for a day trip, a place off the beaten path were tourists and locals mingle, look no farther. Kikuletwa hot springs or maji moto ( Swahili for hot water) is a little oasis located off of a dusty road about two hours from Arusha. Enjoy the naturally warm water of the Kikuletwa hot springs which is caused by underground geothermal springs. If you are feeling lazy you can bask in the pool or, if you‘re are feeling more adventurous, you can swim or jump from the rope swing.
After you are done swimming in the Kikuletwa hot springs, you can enjoy some local food cooked fresh for you. Our personal favorite is chips mayai, which is basically a French fry omelette. What’s not to love? As you are approaching Moshi keep your eyes open because every so often the clouds part and you can catch a glimpse of the iconic Mt. Kilimanjaro!
